Hart County had a ground breaking February 26, 2007 for a new manufacturer that will bring 140 new jobs to Hart County, investing about $50,000,000 and building a 300,000 square foot manufacturing facility at the first I-85 Georgia exit in Hart County. This is the second industry in the past two years to be placed in our 150 acre gateway industrial park. This new plant will manufacture material conveyance components primarily conveyor belts.
With this second announcement, Hart County has only one large site left in the Gateway Industrial Park. In response to this we have also purchased an additional 120 acres to expand this park and now own approximately 1 mile of I-85 road frontage in Hart County at the first Georgia Exit entering from South Carolina. This will create additional large sites for other manufacturing plants of this size.
The company’s name is Fenner-Dunlop and they expect to start constructing immediately. The building will be visible from I-85 directly across from the Georgia Welcome Center. Production should begin by early second quarter of 2008.
Attached is a PDF of the proposed facility.
Hart County has had several large manufacturing plant closures in the past few years including Spring Manufacturing who moved their operations out of this country leaving approximately 750 people out of work. In response to these closures the Hart County Board of Commissioners has redoubled their efforts at economic development and has brought about 600 jobs back into the county with about $100,000,000 in industrial investment in the past 2 years.
