April 7-9, 2006 - Dinner Theatre - "Funeral for a Gangster" will be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on April 7, 8, and 9th at the Arts Center on Howell Street. The shows on Friday & Saturday will begin at 7:30PM and feature Italian cuisine. Friday & Saturday tickets are $25.00 per person or 2 for $45.00. These performances are rated PG-13 for language.  On Sunday there will have a non-dinner show (no food at all).  It will begin at 2:30 PM. Sunday tickets are $10.00 for students under 18 and $12.00 for those over 18. The Sunday performance will be rated PG and appropriate for all age groups. April 14, 2006 - VA Hospital Fundraiser - Golf Tournament! Start time is 12:45 PM at the Hartwell Golf Course. Entry Fee $50 per person - includes Cart fee, Greens Fee and Lunch. April 14-16 , 2006 - Spring Fever 2006 Regatta on Lake Hartwell. The Largest Catamaran Regatta in the USA. A Full Three Days of Racing on one of the most beautiful lakes in the South   For more information visit their website.

April 22, 2006 - Antique Boat Festival, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. This Fourteenth Annual event is sponsored by the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society, the Hartwell Marina and the Hart County Chamber of Commerce. Lake Hartwell provides the backdrop for exhibitors from across the U.S. to display their classic wooden boats dated from the 1920's - 1960's. Come see over 50 classic boats at the Hartwell Marina on beautiful Lake Hartwell. *Jim Shotwell will be the speaker for registered participants. May 4-H Rabies Clinics for 2006 The per rabies shot is $6.00 per pet, given by veterinarian - Dr. Robert Mauldin. See following locations & times:
    May 1 - from 6PM-7PM at the North Hart Elem. School parking lot.
    May 2 - from 6PM-7PM at the South Hart Elem. School parking lot.

    May 4 - from 6PM-7PM at the Hart County High School parking lot. 

May 6, 2006 - Lake Hartwell Dam Run! One of Georgia's most scenic 5K and 10K runs. Featuring a one mile "Fun Run". It all begins at Big Oaks Recreation Area on US 29 just North of Hartwell at 8:30am. The street address for the Big Oaks Recreation Area is 5625 Anderson Hwy. Come and enjoy the "Best Dam Run Anywhere".  Volunteers are needed to help out with the Dam Run!  Sponsored by the Hart County Running Club, Springs Industries & the Hart County Chamber of Commerce. May 4-7 & May 12-14, 2006 - The Hart County Community Theatre presents A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM. A Musical Comedy directed by Tom Bender & Gail Anne Gold. Call HCCT at (706) 376-5599 for more Theatre information.

May 13, 2006- Lake Hartwell Association Annual Members Meeting & Picnic at the Big Oaks pavillion adjacent to the Corps offices at the Hartwell Dam. Picnic fare starting at 11:30am and informative presentations are promised. The public is invited.

May 20-21, 2006 - Gardens of Hart Tour from 9:00a.m. until 5:30 p.m. in Hartwell. Stroll through seven private gardens plus the garden of The Skelton House, a beautifully restored Victorian bed and breakfast built in 1896. Hart County's fourth garden tour includes one of the most beautiful gardens in the Lake Hartwell, area formal gardens, rose gardens, country gardens, woodland gardens, water gardens and more. May 20, 2006 - P.A.W.S for a Cause - Pooch Parade & Dog Show Heart Haven is planning their 2nd annual P.A.W.S Dog Show (Providing Abused Women Shelter). The goal of this fund-raiser is to increase awareness of domestic violence in our community. The event is to be held at Big Oaks Recreation Area with registration beginning at 9:30 am and the show categories beginning around 11:00 am. Trophies will be awarded for best dressed, smallest, most unusual, happiest, best costume, and more fun categories. All proceeds will go directly to benefit victims in our area. May 25-27, 2006 - Memorial Day Weekend Blue Grass Festival at Clem's Shoal Creek Music Park. Call (706) 356-1092 for more information.

May 27-28, 2006 - Sixteenth Annual Challenge of the Centuries Bike Ride sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Hartwell. Official training ride for Bike Ride Across Georgia (BRAG). May 27, 2006 - Hartwell-Gold Poker Run at Hartwell Marina. This is the sixth year for the Poker Run, raising $50,000 for charities in the area. Registration is limited to 200 boats. This event is organized by the Lake Hartwell Sail & Power Squadron and benefits Meals on Wheels of Anderson & Greenville, SC. June 10, 2006 - Hartwell Lake Festival is a day of Fun and Fundraising by the Hartwell Kiwanis Club. Fishing Tournament - $1000 1st prize from 7am-3pm plus Kid's Tournament with prizes from noon til 2PM. Sidewalk Sales Downtown – June 23 (starts at 9:00am)
Dancin' on Depot – June 23 (7:00 pm to 11:00 pm) Tickets at the gate will be $8, or two for $15; and children under 10 are free. Remember, bring your children, lawn chairs and dancing shoes! Pre-4th Arts & Crafts Extravaganza – June 24 (from 9:00am - 3:00pm) This is an amazing Festival filled with music and many fun community events on the Square in Hartwell.
Pre-4th Extravaganza Parade – June 24 (10:00am to 11:00am)  Cash prizes will be awarded to civic groups and organizations that showcase their community spirit  in the parade in various categories. To make arrangements for a float to be in the parade contact Kelly Schell at (706) 377-4900.
Ag Day In The City II - Agricultural Recognition Exhibit – June 24 (9:00am till 3:00pm) The Hart County Chamber is working with the Farm Bureau, the Cattleman's Association, the Poultry Federation, the Hart County Extension Office and many others to recognize the importance agriculture plays in Hart County. The Ag Day exhibit will be held at the Ace Hardware parking lot! There will be demonstrations, samples, tractors and lot's of fun exhibits.
Pre-4th Chicken B-B-Q – June 24 (4:00pm – 6:00pm) at the Hart EMC building. Price is $6.00 per ticket and includes a half chicken, cole slaw, potato chips and a brownie. Tickets are available from any Hartwell Service League member or call Ann Murray at (706) 376-9731.
Pre-4th Community Band Concert and Fireworks – June 24 (Concert starts at approximately 8:00pm, Fireworks are at dusk) Join us for an evening of patriotic music provided by the Community Band and a tremendous fireworks display at Big Oaks Recreation Area hosted by Springs Industries and the Hart County Chamber of Commerce. August, 2006 - Trivia Challenge at the Adult Learning Center. Event to be held from 6:30 - 10 pm. The annual challenge involves teams of three or four members vying for victory in 20 or more rounds of Trivial Pursuit. Team members pay $50 each, with funds benefiting The Art Center.  Applications and rules are available at ElsieBee Originals on Depot Street; or at The Art Center.

September 23, 2006 - ARTS in hARTwell Festival of Heritage and Fine Arts with an assortment of activities, including juried fine art, heritage music and crafts demonstrations. September, 2006 - "Ride Over Violence...A Fun Motorcycle Ride" to benefit Heart Haven will begin at 11 a.m. at Fred's Discount Store parking lot (old Wal-Mart). Proceeds benefit Heart Haven, the battered women's shelter serving Hart, Franklin and Elbert counties. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the ride will begin at 11:30 a.m. Registration fee is $25. October 7-8, 2006 - 4th Annual Loch Hartwell Highland Games & Scottish Festival. Artisans, historical groups, Scottish vendors, Highland Athletics competition events for the State of Georgia Highland Games Championship. View the sheep herding demos with Dawn Boyce's National Championship border collies. See the massed bagpipe bands on parade and Falconry demonstrations; Scottish Clan tents, genealogists and groups such as the Scottish American Military Society. The Entertainment stage with have Scottish entertainers providing historical, interactive events and musical entertainment all day - both days. For more information call (706) 376-6761. October, 2006 - Pilot Club of Hartwell - Turkey Supper at the Hartwell Elementary Cafeteria. Plates are $6 each.  You can eat in or takeout. Plates include turkey and dressing and all the trimmings. Tickets are available form any Pilot Club member, or you may call (706)376-3168.

October 20-21, 27-28, 30-31, 2006 - Annual Haunted House & Woods The Haunted house and woods walk through will be from 7-11 p.m. nightly at the corner of Memorial Road and Highway 29 (Royston Road), one mile South of Hartwell, across from Nancy Hart Memorial Cemetery. October 31, 2006 - Mayor's Monster Mash! Trick or Treaters are invited to visit around the Courthouse Square & on Depot St. Visit the merchants for treats from 4:30 til 6:00 PM.

November 4, 2006 - Depot Day in Hartwell presented by the Pilot Club of Hartwell. Geared toward children and railroads. WANTED: Arts and crafts vendors (Cost for a 10' x 10' booth space is $25.00 for non-professionals and $30.00 for professional vendors)  Call Karen or Susan at (706) 376-3168 for more information.

November, 2006 - The Pilot Club of Hartwell - 6th annual “Anticipate the Holidays Fashion Show” at 6:30 p.m. at Hart County Learning Center. Fashions will be modeled by Bailes Cobb and Belk of Hartwell. Those attending will be served sandwiches, salads and dessert. There will be door prizes given and attendants may also bid on items on display for a Silent Auction. November, 2006 - Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the downstairs meeting room of the Library on Benson Street. Proceeds to benefit the Hart County Library.

January, 2007 - Atlanta Boat Show The Hart County Chamber will have a booth (#292) at the Georgia World Congress Center promoting our community.

February, 2007 - The Polar Bear Plunge at Hart State Park. This is the 11th annual benefit for Heart Haven - a shelter for victims of domestic violence. All Year - Hart County Historical Museum & Chamber of Commerce. The Teasley-Holland house is a one-story frame Victorian style structure built in 1881. The museum is a source of county historical information. The Teasley-Holland House is also the home to the Hart County Chamber of Commerce. Located at 31 E. All Year - Bluegrass Express - Enjoy bluegrass music every Saturday night in a former cotton warehouse at historic 57 Depot Street in downtown Hartwell. A house band joins nationally known performers, providing music for clogging or just listening for the whole family. The performance starts at 7:00 p.m. and includes authentic bluegrass and gospel music. Adults $6 - Children Free. Call (706) 376-3551 for more information.

All Year - The Arts Center - Enjoy the best of regional and national fine arts and fine crafts in a renovated historic building on the square in 338 East Howell Street.

April - October - The Hartwell Farmer's Market - Open every Saturday - April thru October, from 7:00am – Noon at the City Hall  Parking Lot on the corner of S. Carter and Howell St. FYI -- All produce is locally grown in Hart County or a county that surrounds Hart.  Other attractions in Hart County

Cateechee Golf Club - Located close to Hartwell Lake this 18 hole Semi-private course is an Audubon Signature Course. YDG: 6611 RTG: 70.8 SLP: 130 PAR: 71 Fees: $25-49. Located at 140 Cateechee Trail in Hartwell.

Center of the World Monument - One reminder of the Cherokee Indians is an area designated the Center of the World. The site was a Native American assembly ground where they met for various councils and with traders from Augusta and other southern locations. The Native Americans bartered hides, furs and blankets with the traders. The monument is located near the Fabritex facility and marked by a historical marker on U.S. 29 about three miles south of Hartwell.

Hart State Park - Swimming, boating, water skiing and fishing at Lake Hartwell are prime reasons to visit Hart State Park in Northeast Georgia. Large mouth bass, hybrid bass, striper, black crappie, bream, rainbow trout and wall-eyed pike can be found in the sparkling waters of this 55,590-acre reservoir. The parks boat ramps and docks offer easy access to all water sports. A swimming beach and numerous picnic tables are also provided. Cottages and most campsites are located on the scenic lake shore. Located at 330 Hart State Park Road in Hartwell.

Hartwell Golf Club - An 18 hole semi-private golf course. YDG: 5987 RTG: 68.3 PAR 71 Under $25. Located at 755 Golf Course Road in Hartwell.

Hartwell Marina - View Lake Hartwell from the Marina and see all the beautiful boats. A Ship's store is available for boaters. Located at 149 Hartwell Marina Road in Hartwell.

Lake Hartwell Dam - It has a panoramic view of Lake Hartwell and the Savannah River from atop the dam. Walking along the dam is a favorite local activity for exercise! Park at the Big Oaks Recreation Park on Hwy 29, 5 miles south of Hartwell.

Lake Hartwell - One of the Southeast's largest and most popular lakes. 56,000 acres with a 962 mile shoreline. Camping, fishing, swimming, boating and picnicking. Visit the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Information Center. In 2005, the lake had 10 million visitors! Lake Hartwell is the #1 most visited Corps managed lake in the whole USA. Lake Hartwell is a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca Rivers. The lake is created by Hartwell Dam. See map of Lake Hartwell.
