HART COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Hart County Board of Commissioners met June 8th, 1999 at 5:30 p.m. in the Hart County Administrative & Emergency Services Center.

 

Chairman Joel Moore presided with Commissioners Ken Brown and Harry Hannah in attendance. Commissioners Don Burdick and R. C. Oglesby absent.

 

Call to Order, Welcome, Moment of Silence

 

Chairman Moore called the meeting to order, welcomed those in attendance and offered a moment of silence.

 

Approve Agenda

 

Commissioner Hannah entered a motion to approve the meeting agenda. Commissioner Brown provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The agenda is recorded in the minutes book.

 

Approve Minutes of Previous Meeting(s)

            5/25/99, and called meeting 6/01/99

 

Commissioner Hannah entered a motion to approve the minutes of the meetings held May 25th and June 1st, 1999. Commissioner Brown provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

 

Remarks by Invited Guests, Committees, Authorities, Etc.

a.                  Richard Sanders, Hart County Library Director

 

Richard Sanders, Hart County Library Director, presented a report of the library’s activities for the first year of his employment as the director.  He said the library offers Internet access, has books on tape, a meeting room facility and houses the Nancy Hart Learning Center.

 

Bob Hartsock, Chairman of the Library Board, reported the board has given Mr. Sanders an annual review and is very pleased with his performance.

 

Mr. Hartsock requested the commissioners reinstate the amount of funds that were reduced in fiscal year 1999 to the library. He explained that if local funds are reduced the state could withdraw all state funds.

 

Reports by Constitutional Officers and Department Heads

 

Attorney Kim Wilkerson reported one parcel of property was sold at the delinquent tax sale June 1st, 1999. She announced the next scheduled tax sale would be held July 6th, 1999.

 

County Administrator’s Report

 

County Administrator Gary Cobb reported the recreation expansion ad hoc committee would meet June 17th, 1999. He reported a mission statement for the committee has been drafted.

 

Mr. Cobb reported the fiscal year 2000 budget worksheets have been distributed to the department heads and the budget process has begun for the upcoming year.

 

He also reported bids for Bio Fire Department roof would be presented at the June 22nd, 1999 meeting.

Commissioners Brown and Hannah did not have anything to report.

Commissioner Brown entered a motion to approve the consent agenda. Commissioner Hannah provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The consent agenda is recorded in the minutes book.

Public Comment – Executive Session As Required – Adjournment

 

County Administrator Gary Cobb recognized Will Davis for his job as reporter for the Hartwell Sun and wished him farewell and good luck with his new job.

 

Chairman Moore, Commissioners Brown and Hannah wished Mr. Davis a good luck in the future.
