Planning Session

April 24th, 2000

 

The Hart County Board of Commissioners met April 24th, 2000 at 4:30 p.m. in the Hart County Administrative & Emergency Services Center.

 

Chairman Joel Moore presided with Commissioners Ken Brown, Don Burdick, Harry Hannah and R. C. Oglesby in attendance. Also in attendance were County Administrator Gary S. Cobb, Public Works Director Rick Haney, Sun Reporter Mark Lanford, EMS Director Dan Yeargin, County Attorney Walter Gordon and county resident Howard Cosby.

 

Chairman Moore opened the meeting.

 

Mr. Cosby addressed his situation on Pallet Road in trying to get the sixty-foot right-of-way released to the county.

 

County Administrator's Report

 

·        County Administrator Gary S. Cobb briefed the BOC on the status of the Fire Training Officer recruiting, his participation in the ACCG Annual Meeting, the current SPLOST sunset date and upcoming Board/Authority Appointments.

·        County Administrator presented a Recreation Grant Resolution needed for the grant application. Item was placed on the Consent Agenda.

·        The ACCG/Blue Cross Blue Shield Group Adoption Agreement was presented to the BOC. Item was placed on the Consent Agenda.

·        Scrap Tire Grant Resolution discussed. Item was placed on the Consent Agenda.

·        After discussion of whether the county should go with Phase I of the cell phone location service. The matter was placed on the Consent Agenda.

·        Auditor Wayne Bowen asked to provide a mid-year audit report 

·        Provide a monthly financial report to the commissioners

 

 

Old Business

 

a.                  Grading Bids

 

Motion by Commissioner Burdick, second by Commissioner Oglesby to have Teasley and Ethridge confirm their unit costs for silt fencing and mulching based on the county's estimated usage. Motion passed unanimously.

 

Motion by Commissioner Burdick, second by Commissioner Oglesby to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing real estate acquisition. For the record, Commissioner Oglesby excused himself prior to discussion on the E911 issue. During this discussion it was decided that the Chairman and the County Attorney meet with Mr. Lee Barton of Hart Telephone Company.

 

After discussion of real estate motion by Commissioner Burdick to exit executive session, second by Commissioner Brown. Motion passed unanimously.

 

Chairman Moore adjourned the meeting at 9:30 p.m.
