Called Meeting

The Hart County Board of Commissioners met February 5^th, 2003 at 12 noon in the Hart County Administrative and Emergency Services Center.

Chairman Randy Banister presided with Commissioners R.C. Oglesby, Dan Reyen, Ricky Carter and Joey Dorsey in attendance.

Chairman Banister called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon. All Commissioners were present except Commissioner Oglesby who arrived at 12:15 pm. Also in attendance were Nathan Golden (Anderson Independent), Robert Rider (Hartwell Sun), Walter Gordon, Gary Cobb, and three citizens.

Commissioner Dorsey requested that the called work-session for noon on February 6, 2003 be moved to 5:30 pm on the same day. No objections were raised. Late in the meeting it was decided to cancel the meeting on the 6^th of February 2003 and try to arrange a teleconference call with State Reapportionment Office on Monday, February 10, 2003.

Gary Cobb reviewed the source of the four district maps on the wall.

Chairman Banister reviewed the January 30^th meeting with the State Reapportionment Office.

A great deal of discussion followed with each Commissioner stating his concerns, criteria, etc. with the three proposed re-districting plans. Little progress was made in reaching a consensus on any of the plans. The County Administrator was directed to contact Linda Meggars at the State Reapportionment Office to discuss the possibility of a teleconference or video conference, preferably on Monday, February 10, 2003.

Motion by Commissioner Oglesby, second by Commissioner Reyen to adjourn. Vote 5-0.
