Hart County Board of Commissioners

Peer Review Work Session

September 28th, 2004

The Peer Review Work Session convened after the Public Hearing. BOA Chairman Randy Combs, BOA members Kenny Carter and Ann Thompson did not attend the meeting.

BOA members Bill Fogerty and Don Burdick presented a minority response to the BOA Peer Review proposals presented at the August 17th, 2004 meeting.

Mr. Fogerty remarked that they strongly disagreed with the philosophy inherent in the Peer Review presentation August 17th.  He said the proposal presented by the BOA Chairman indicated a lack of interest in change, improvement, solving problems, serving the public, and planning ahead.

Mr. Fogerty addressed each of the issues raised by the Peer Review Board.  He requested that the BOC withhold funding the appraiser consultant until the BOA presents a viable alternative for addressing the problems with commercial and industrial appraisals.

Mr. Burdick stated that there is a need for positive attitudes with the BOA members. He appealed to the BOC and BOA to start working together.

Commissioner Banister entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Carter provided a second to the motion. The motion carried 5-0.
