Work Session

The Hart County Board of Commissioners met March 2nd, 2005 at 12 noon at the Hart County Administrative & Emergency Services Center.

 

Chairman R C Oglesby presided with Commissioners Daniel Reyen, Gary Mize, Ricky Carter and Joey Dorsey in attendance.

 

Chairman Oglesby called the meeting to order and expressed that the purpose of the work session is to discuss the Beer & Wine Ordinance, Animal Control Ordinance and Bush hog bids.

 

  • Bush hog bids

 

After discussing the bush hog bid, the BOC called for a work session with the two lowest bidders Monday 7th, 2005 at 5:00 p.m.

 

  • Animal Control Ordinance  

 

County Attorney Walter Gordon noted that the State law provides a method by which you can control dangerous animals. He noted the description between a dangerous animal and a potentially dangerous animal.

 

County resident Larry Ford expressed his concern about stray dogs roaming pastures and killing or causing damage to live stock.

 

The BOC concluded that they would call for another work session to discuss the Animal Control Ordinance.

 

  • Beer & Wine Ordinance

 

Commissioner Dorsey and Commissioner Reyen noted that the ordinance needs to have a specified section for each type of classification.

 

Distance requirements were discussed on whether the distance requirements to sell beer and wine from a church, school or hospital are reasonable or too restrictive. 

 

Ed Lane owner of L&J Hardware in the Reed Creek community noted that he has a half million dollar investment in his establishment. He would like to be allowed to sell beer & wine warm at his store.

 

The BOC decided to call for another work session to discuss the Beer & Wine Ordinance.

 

Commissioner Reyen entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Dorsey provided a second to the motion. The motion carried 5-0.
