Called Planning Session
March 6th, 7th, 2000
The Hart County Board of Commissioners met at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, University of Georgia, Athens Georgia March 6th and 7th, 2000.
The press was given written notice of the called meeting on March 2nd, 2000. Meeting notices were posted in the Hart County Administrative & Emergency Services Center on the same date.
Meeting was convened at 6:00 p.m. at the Georgia Center Dining Room. Those in attendance were all Board of Commissioners, County Administrator Gary Cobb, Janine Bethel (Carl Vinson Institute of Government Facilitator). Following dinner, the meeting moved to the Executive Conference Room. A general discussion was held on the need for a future SPLOST program, status of present SPLOST income and expenses. The meeting was adjourned at 10:10 p.m.
The meeting reconvened at 8:00 a.m. March 7th, 2000. Same attendees as earlier noted. Discussions were held on what projects would be included, if the Commissioners decided to ask residents to approve a new SPLOST. Discussions were held on what the legal requirements for proceeding with a referendum. The meeting adjourned for lunch at 12 noon and reconvened at 1:00 p.m. Again discussion of all aspects of a SPLOST vote. Meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
