About Us

The Hart County Fire Department is a combination department located within northeast Georgia.  It consists of eight stations located throughout the county.  Each station has a E-One 1250 GPM Engine, a Tanker, a 950 Gallon Brush Truck, and a 4x4 Grass Truck.  Several station's also have Reserve Pumpers and/or Air Trucks.

The county has a 6/9 ISO rating at the present time and we are working toward the department's goal to lower the rating even lower.

At full staff the department would have 168 firefighters.

We are always seeking dedicated individuals whom wish to become firefighters.  If you are interested in becoming a firefighter with our department, you will have to complete an application, that includes a driver's and criminal background check.  After completing this required paperwork your application will need to be forwarded to the Chief.  At this point the Chief and Professional Standards Division will view your application to verify good moral character status and then it is filed to September of each year where the new recruit review takes place.  The applications are then send to the closest station's to your residence were the Station Officers will conduct interviews, if any openings are present in that station.  The selected candidates will be placed on the department after the paperwork and baseline physicals are completed around November or December of each year.  The candidates will start Basic Training the first of January.

If you already have the Basic Firefighter training and we can verify this with GFA and GFSTC, the candidate will be placed on the department as soon as the physical, agility test, and all the paperwork is completed.
