POLICY FOR RENAMING OF COUNTY
ROADS
August 16, 2002
If the renaming is initiated by the County, the County shall
contact the known landowners in writing giving 30 days to respond to the County’s
requested name change. The new name of the County road if initiated by the
County, will be determined by the 911 addressing department.
- If no response is given within 30 days and/or 75% of
the landowners agree to the name change, the 911 addressing will forward
the name change for Board approval.
- If the landowners initiate a name change for a County
Road, the landowners must bring proof of approval
from at least 75% of the landowners on the road. Such proof will include
a plat of the landowners and signatures/affidavits from the landowners signifying
approval of the name change.
- The 911 addressing department will review and approve
the name change request.
- The Board of Commissioners will consider approval of
the name change.
- The Public Works Department will be notified of the name
change and contact the GADOT to make the official changes to the Hart
County roads inventory.
