Lake
Hartwell
Built by the U.S. Corps of Engineers between 1955 and 1963, the
lake is now a popular tourist and recreation attraction, bringing
more than 14 million visitors a year. The lake was designed as part
of a flood control and hydropower project. The impressive Hartwell
Dam forms the lake by spanning over three miles across the Savannah

The Hart County Community Theatre is located on Historic Depot Street
in Downtown Hartwell. The Theatre runs three plays a year as well
as a Children's Workshop, a Summer Special Event and the traditional
'Night Before the Night Before' on December 23.The office hours
are 10-2 Tuesday thru Friday and the phone number is

State Park
Hart State Park is located three miles north of Hartwell off U.S.
29. The park has 76 tent and trailer sites as well as two cottages
on its 147 acres. The park hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the office
hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a $2 park pass fee. For information
