Election Dates

Special Election - Magistrate Judge -- March 19, 2012

Special Election Runoff (if required) -- April 16, 2013

Voter Registration Deadline is the 5th Monday prior to the election; if that Monday is a legal holiday, the deadline moves to the next day.
This includes changes to legal name, address or transfer to another Georgia County.

Qualifications to Register

17-1/2 years or older, 18 years old to vote
United States Citizen
Not be serving a sentence for a felony involving moral turpitude
Not having been adjudicated mentally incompetent

What to do if you move:
Voters are required to notify the board of registrars of their county of residence
whenever they move. (See address and phone number above.)

If you move within the same county in which you are registered to vote and don't notify the registrar at least 30 days prior to an election, you may vote in your old polling place for that election. You must file a notice of your new address. This can be done by writing your county board of registrars' office, or by submitting a new voter registration application.

If you move outside the county in which you are registered to vote within 30 days of an election, you may vote in your old precinct for that election.

If you move outside the county in which you are registered to vote in excess of 30 days prior to an election, you have lost your eligibility to vote in the county of your old residence. You must register to vote in your new county of residence. If you don't register to vote by the deadline, you cannot vote in that particular election.

Department of Public Safety (when you apply for your license or renewal)
Department of Human Resources Public Assistance Offices, such as WIC,DFACs, Rehab and other offices service the disabled
Public libraries
Recruitment offices
County Courthouses & City Halls, colleges, high schools
Board of Registrars' offices

social security number (confidentiality maintained)
date of birth
signature or mark.
Optional information includes race, gender, and telephone number

A precinct card is mailed to the applicant once the voter registration application is approved. If you don't receive your card in 2-3 weeks, please contact the local registration office.
